Kadhal Kottai (Tamil: காதல் கோட்டை) is a Tamil film in which Ajith Kumar and Devayani play major roles. Heera Rajgopal plays another role. The film won the National Film Award for Best Directing for 1996. It was directed by Agathiyan.

The innovative plot revolves around two introvert hearts falling in unconditional love without seeing each other until the climax! This was the second blockbuster by Ajith-Agathiyan combo following Vaanmathi. This low-budget film grossed almost Rs.100 million at the box office playing for 240 days successfully. The film was a sensation and spawned several clones with the prefix Kadhal... in the title. Ajith's salary was hardly Rs.500,000.
