24-Amarkalam (1999)

Amarkalam (Tamil: அமர்க்களம்) is a Tamil film starring Ajith and Shalini in the lead roles. It was released in 1999 and was a silver jubilee movie.

• Ajith fell in love with Shalini after co-starring with her in this movie; later they got married.^{[citation needed]}
• The film was marketed as Shalini's last film

The film opened in 71 screens throughout Tamil Nadu. It grossed Rs.19 million in the first week of release. It played for 182 days before being replaced by the next Ajith film - Mugavari. It was later dubbed into Telugu as Adhbutam.
